  • I recently got a traffic ticket for an unsafe lane change. I told to officer that I never had a ticket before and didn’t know what to do he told me to follow the directions on the ticket and I should have no problem. I read the ticket as best as I could but the carbon copy I got was very hard to make out. I missed my allowed time to contact the court. They sent me a card in the mail that said I missed my court date and had how much I owed for the ticket. It also said if I didn’t pay it within so many days they would suspend my license. The very next day I got a letter saying they would issue a bench warrant for my arrest if they didn’t receive to money soon. I sent the money out to them by mail but I am worried about getting a misdemeanor for not contacting them for the ticket on time because the HOMES program is only for one time offenders and that felony will come back to me if I get another offence and my life will be ruined. What do you suggest I do?
  • Is domestic violence a form of personal injury - not just toward myself but my two children who are under the age of six?  If I am verbally and mentally and physically abused from my husband?  My husband says I don't have a case! He dares me to try and divorce him.
  • My father went to jail in February.   He went to court for several things but the only thing they found him guilty of was a felony firearms charge.  My question is:  what is the longest someone has spent in jail for this charge?  They keep postponing his sentencing and I think he should be out by now but they are just taking their time with this.
  • My son is 14 and the girl is 13 He is being charged with gross indecency between a male and female.  On the petition it does not say what charge this would be felony or misdemeanor? How serious is this charge?  He has been seeing a counselor every week since we found out.
  • I got a DWI for blowing a .1, in court it was reduced to a DWAI. I went to Canada this past summer and was turned around because they told me I had a felony conviction, and not to attempt going into Canada for 5 years after my conviction date.  Is this true and if so is there any way of entering Canada before then?
  • My wife called the police and told them I had been arguing with her. She then wanted me to leave. At that point I would have been trespassing so I left. However the officer arrived and said that since this was the second time in a short period he would have to charge me.  She told him what occurred and he wrote on his report out of context from her statement that I had her by the arm and would not let go. I threatened to rip the phone out of the wall to keep her from calling 911.  This did not occur as the officer reported.  My wife is willing to appear before the court and state that no assault took place. Why am I being charged at all?
  • My license was suspended due to not having an interlock device installed on my vehicle after a second DUI charge. I only own a motorcycle which they do not make interlock devices for and last Friday I received a third DUI (aggravated). I'm a full-time UA student with six more months left of college but this felony charge I'm facing could obviously ruin everything.
  • My husband was arrested for domestic violence and has a court date coming up. He never touched me - knocked a pan of water on the floor/I slipped & cut my lip, has never been in jail before.   Is it possible to get these charges dismissed, or what can we expect? Is there anything else we can do? Thank you for your time & assistance.
  • Besides the fact that felony charges will be brought against the guy who used my checking account without my consent, where do I stand legally. Can I sue him?   He set my life and bills back, what are my options?
  • How can a married man who has a pregnant wife (and who is also abusive) protect himself when she threatens to call police on him even if he has done nothing?  Her hormones are so off the wall that he is really concerned about staying in the house.  He is testing for a job that if he were arrested he would have no chance to get.  She doesn't care.
  • I was arrested and put in jail for domestic violence and never given my Miranda rights, can this be thrown out?
  • After the domestic violence against my husband which he is and has been incarcerated for a month now, I've been living in a battered women’s shelter since that time.  I need assistance, financially and in other areas of my life so I can begin to have a new life what do I do?
  • Why is it that Domestic Violence court does not follow the "rules"?  My daughter's boyfriend is constantly in court for spurious complaints and motions by his soon to be ex and he is NEVER allowed to defend himself.  He has all sorts of evidence to show he is right but the courts never listen to him.  His vindictive ex is ALWAYS blindly believed, all the while abusing and traumatizing their 2 children.
  • I am being served a subpoena to be a witness in a domestic violence case. I told the officer that I did not want to press charges, however, the state pursued them and now they want to serve me a subpoena. Do I have any right to refuse to be served?  How can I avoid this?
  • If someone file false charges of domestic violence and the DA picks them up without having full proof that they are false what can more than likely happen to them. The charges are now being filed by the DA not the false accuser now and the other person is charged with a misdemeanor domestic violence offence.
  • I plead guilty to felony possession of narcotics under HOMES or 7411 not sure which. I was released after 6 months of probation and I haven’t been in any trouble since. I really want to go to nursing school and better my life. The possession charge has been taken off my record. I know I couldn’t be a nurse with the charge but it is not visible to the public unless I get into trouble again. Which isn’t going to happen? But I have noticed on some job applications they ask if you have every been convicted of or plead guilty to a felony, what should I say? I mean I thought the whole reason to have the felony taken off was so I could get a good job and no one will hire me if I tell them I plead guilty.
